Sabi Sun looks to be a really family resort offering plenty of activities for the kids whilst the elders get out on the golf course which in itself is a fun experience set in the hills of the Mpumalanga province in South Africa.

The course is not too long at roughly 5,600 meters off the men’s tees but offers some tight & challenging holes to compensate for that. You start off with a gentle par 4 weaving to the left and right with water in reach of the tee but nothing too difficult for the average golfer but then the second is a 140 meter par 3 over a pool of water. There were many noteworthy holes on what I think is a really cool design with plenty risk reward.

Unfortunately though the course could do with a bit of facelift. The greens weren’t in prime condition, many bare patches and the fairways were a bit wild in places, could do with a seeding and new grass coming through.

There is sadly no longer a driving range there but they do have a practice green to warm up the short game. They do have a very well stocked pro shop.

Watch out using google maps, coming from the White River area I was taken down a dirt road so would recommend staying on the main road for as long as possible and the entrance for the course is also after the Sabi River Eco Resort, you’ll find it a few hundred meters further down the road.

For R450 for a round I think it’s very much worth it, really fun course to play!
