182 - Abu Dhabi

Had a lay over in Abu Dhabi of a day and naturally thought why not get a round or two in, had Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Yas Links lined up for an epic layover only to be hit with the biggest storm the country has seen in recent times the day before and complete closure of all courses on the day of my arrival. Needless to say the staff were so friendly and helpful in rearranging and making me feel welcome for the duration of my day with no play. On my return journey I did finally get to play and was very happy to have made the effort to do so.

You can tell apart from the general hospitality in the clubhouse that a lot of effort is put into the overall experience on the day. When you arrive you get taken by cart to the range, and what a range, to get your complimentary balls, water and a soft drink. The course is cart only and in that heat I’d definitely recommend it.

It is an iconic DP World Tour course and my first experience of desert golf. Credit to the ground staff who despite it being blistering hot in the summer still manage to have the fairways and greens in good condition, the greens were pretty quick!

Unfortunately I didn’t have time for the night golf but would love to come back one day an experience it. Very nice course and even better experience and haven’t even mentioned the iconic clubhouse which is very impressive when playing back towards it.
