Nestled right in between Carnoustie and Monifieth you have this little gem of a golf course. I found Panmure was quite similar in layout to Carnoustie’s Burnside course with a more of a flat layout and minor undulations but plenty of raised greens making it quite tricky. And those greens, the best I have played in a long time. They were in perfect condition, all of them, ran so true and just looked amazing!

The first couple of holes are fairly straight forward and then you get onto a wider plot of land where they stand to weave within each other on a wider plot of land. The 6th was a pretty cool hole with a fairway running at an angle to the tee box making you really think about club selection and then the approach is to a narrow, multi-tiered green with trouble on both sides. There’s a selection of other great holes and they do a really good job of not making the par 4’s boring with greens hidden behind mounds or streams protecting the run up to the green.

The course is wonderfully looked after, not just the greens but the fairways and also the rough was well trimmed and a lot of attention paid to it. The clubhouse provides an awesome backdrop coming down the 18th and sits right beside the 1st tee. It has a nice warm, traditional feeling to the club.

They have a really nice driving range and separate putting & chipping greens, in general very good practice facilities and also a great selection of items in the pro shop. I played on a weekday afternoon and the course was relatively empty, got around very quickly. Would definitely recommend getting a round in here, very enjoyable, a lot of variety!
