On a cold wintery morning with my dad and a few family friends we headed down to Belton Woods to play their Woods course. Belton Woods is a 4 star resort with 2 18 hole courses, the other being the Lakes. With a spa, wonderfully decorated restaurant with lovely food it is a nice spot for a short golf trip especially with Belton Park a short drive down the road, a separate club boasting another 18 holes.

The Woods course, as the name suggests, is predominantly parkland winding its way through the Lincolnshire countryside with picturesque views over the surrounding areas. Playing at this time of the year you can’t expect the course to be in amazing condition but fair dues it was still very playable but a bit squelchy in parts. The greens were very well looked after and even at £30 a round in December, I don’t think that is bad value for money.

Despite being a parkland course, there is a smattering of water with the odd stream here and there but the intrigue mainly lies in the twists and turns and changes in elevation which are aplenty on the rolling hills the course is built on and it finishes with a lovely par 5 with the green nestled in behind a stream, sitting in front of the clubhouse, with a beer ready and waiting in the backdrop.
