Westlake is another good parkland course in Cape Town, just down the road from Steenberg. It is not quite as pristine as Steenberg but maybe that is reflected in the price but is still a very nice golfing experience. The club had a really nice atmosphere to it, the clubhouse was awash with people who all seemed to know each other.
The course itself is a mix of holes going left or right and the odd straight one. It was pretty nice to play as a higher handicapper because you can miss onto other fairways off the tee on a fee holes. There are quite a number of trees so chances are you’ll get stuck behind a few of them throughout the round.
There is a driving range just above the car park, you pass it as you drive in but sadly it’s for irons only. Not quite long enough for a driver to be hit. If you’re in the area and don’t want to pay a premium for Steenberg then I’d recommend stopping by here.
