If you’re visiting Cape Town and staying in and around Camps Bay or Constantia/Newlands and area you want a round of golf, definitely get yourself down to Steenberg. Set at the foot of the Silvermine Nature Reserve the course has stunning views all round and is in fantastic condition. The greens are first class, the fairways were lush and rough was well kept.

The course itself is quite forgiving to the average golfer, there’s quite a lot of space if you miss the fairway but most holes are independent of each other. The greens were pretty tough to read, lots of slopes to read, a real test of your putting ability.

There are some beautiful holes! Couple of favourites are the par 3 7th, a green with water long and on both sides with bunkers surrounding the green and an awesome mountain backdrop and the par 5 12th, a sweeping dog leg left with a long sand trap, maybe 200 meters long with an elevated green, trouble on the right and more mountain views to cherish.

The clubhouse is a very modern building, housing a pro shop filled with great stash and a beautiful terrace to watch players coming down the 18th. The driving range is excellent, great views and free balls included in your green fee.
