Atlantic Beach was one of my favourite courses in and around Cape Town. It’s not too far from Milnerton and a little further from the Table Mountain backdrops but I thought the course was more interesting and definitely more of a challenge.
I really enjoyed it because it is more of a thinking course. It is a little narrower than Milnerton and a lot more trouble (thick bush) in certain places. The course narrowed and widened in certain areas which really made you think about which club you were going to choose. Most of the holes are independent of each other so I found myself being more immersed in each individual one and the course overall was in really good condition. It was a little dry but still very respectable.
The par 3, 3rd hole, is a stunning one with the tee box and the green almost perfectly aligning with Table Mountain in the background.
The club has a good set of practice facilities including driving range and a really nice big clubhouse/restaurant.
Would highly recommend playing here if you get the chance!
The course is set in an estate and has a lovely clubhouse. Great selection of food at the halfway house and restaurant after the round. The overall quality of the course was great, the fairways were in very good condition and the greens were superb.
I didn’t get much time to use the driving range but the practice facilities were good otherwise and the pro shop was very well stocked.
