Stellenbosch was the last stop on my South African tour and it wasn’t a bad one to finish on. Another parkland course and set in the wine lands region of the Western Cape. The club has a beautiful, modern entrance to the club house, multiple floors to it and great views over the finishing hole
Most memorable holes were 7 & 8. 7 is a shortish par 3, approximately 130 meters long, off an elevated tee with great views of the winelands and 8 is a what seems to be a relatively straight par 5 when you look at the map but there’s a huge sloping fairway where your ball will roll down to the left then the fairway bends to the right and the green nestled in a group of trees, quite a challenging hole!
The condition of the course was good for this time of the year (Feb), it was on the dryer side but still very playable and the pace of play was pretty good. We played on a Sunday and there was limited hold ups.
Practice facilities are great, lovely wide driving range and a big chipping/putting area. Overall I’d say pretty good value for money and worth playing if you’re staying in the area.
